The day Glenn Beck got his own spot on TV marked the day that being a decent human being became optional. The man's an unapologetic liar with a fondness for conspiracy fantasies that would rightly have him busted on public disturbance charges anywhere outside of a FOX News studio. What's less clear is the basis of his popularity. Calling the president a racist probably gets him a few tens of thousands of devoted viewers. And claiming the president is angry about white people might get him a few thousand more. After all, even the most demented ditto heads and Bill O fans appreciate variety. But beyond that, are there really enough people with a fetish for buzz cut pumpkin head dough face liver lipped weenies to support the size audience the man has?
Up until the latest news reports from New Haven, there was strong suspicion in some quarters that Mr. Beck was about to be arrested for the recent murder of Annie Le at Yale University - precisely the type of gruesomely twisted crime that certain childhood acquaintances of Beck, including his parents, supposed would figure prominently in his future. Not in this case, apparently. On the other hand, has anyone seen the DNA evidence yet?
And so the question stands: who is it that's keeping this portly co-ed killer on the air? And calling the president of the United States and liar and a racist? Why that's treason, isn't it?
